The Federalist Society in Brief
The Michigan State University Federalist Society is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to bringing conservative and libertarian ideas into legal education. We sponsor debates, speeches and symposia to advance our principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be.

Congrats to our New Dean!The MSU College of Law Federalist Society would like to warmly congratulate Joan Howarth, our school’s new dean! Professor Howarth is the law college’s 11th dean. Federalist Spartan Achievements! The Federalist Society at MSU College of Law is rocking! Our President, Jared Geist 3-L, will be clerking in the Superior Court of New Jersey under The Honorable Kenneth J. Slomienski, J.S.C. And Steve MacGuidwin 3-L, President of the Spartan Law Students Society and Federalist Society member, will be clerking with The Honorable Raymond W. Gruender of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Steve's position is one level below the SCOTUS - a great achievement! So, if you see 'em 'round high five 'em!

MSU Law Review in Top 100! The Michigan State Law Review is now ranked 89 in the general law journals category! Go Green! Go White! And, Steve is the Law Review Managing Editor!

Farewell and Good Luck! Professor Lee Strang, our Faculty Advisor, is heading for Toledo. He'll be sorely missed!
